  • Honeymooners have romantic and sexy plans in mind but when they do plan to do anything on their own, the post popular thing to do is to visit a spa.
  • The majority of top honeymoon destinations are beach location with the top 3 destinations being Hawaii, Mexico and Florida.
  • The majority of honeymooners are unfamiliar with their destinations when they choose them however weather is often the most important factor when deciding on a destination.

  • Brides are most frequently responsible for planning honeymoons but more and more grooms are taking it on or sharing the responsibility.
  • About 41% are likely to make their reservations online but a significant number book through travel agents (38%) or by calling suppliers directly (28%).
  • Most plan to spend between $500 and $3,000 per person on airfare and accommodations. Relatively few are redeeming any sort of traveler points for any part of their honeymoon.
  • The ideal honeymoon would be between 2 to 4 weeks long on a secluded beach, relaxing with exotic cocktails.
  • A surprising one out of every 4 do not ban alarm clocks or communication devices and a fourth plan to make new friends while on honeymoon .

  • A sweepstakes was conducted in conjunction with the poll where participants could also enter for a chance to win 4-nights’ all-inclusive double-occupancy hotel accommodations in Aruba at the Renaissance® Aruba Resort & Casino
  • Data collected February 21 – March 7, 2006
    • Solicited Travelocity members’ participation via invitations on the home page, within the Real Deals newsletter and via email
    • 9,831 responses received
    • 5,844 responses used in analysis
